About GPX Veil
GPX Veil is a browser tool for cleaning GPS tracks before you share them. It opens GPX and TCX files, shows what each one actually contains — the endpoints, the timestamps, the elevation, the sensor extensions, the waypoints, the author, the links and the device that wrote the file — and lets you take those things out one by one before exporting a valid GPX 1.1 file.
Nothing is uploaded. The file is parsed by the browser's own XML parser, transformed in memory and written back out as text on this page; there is no server to send it to, no account and no analytics. The only network feature is the optional OpenStreetMap tile layer, which stays switched off until you tick the box and then requests map images for the area on screen — never the track.
It is built and maintained by Interhive OÜ, a small studio in Tallinn that makes tiny, dependable web tools.
What it does
Trim and zones
Cut a chosen distance from the start and the finish, and delete every point inside circles you place by clicking the map or by typing coordinates and a radius.
Fields you can remove
Timestamps — removed, made relative or shifted to a date you choose — plus elevation, heart rate, cadence, power, temperature, waypoints, description, author and links.
Fuzzing and simplification
Round coordinates to a chosen number of decimals, or offset the whole track by a smooth seeded amount. Thin the points by keeping every Nth one or with a Douglas–Peucker tolerance in metres.
A report you can read
A before-and-after line for every field, statistics for the file you are about to download, and an offline route preview with the removed sections drawn in.
